Custom applications & workflow automation

Custom Shopify apps, Node.js services and scheduled integrations for the parts of an operation that no existing app covers.

Some needs do not fit any app in the Shopify App Store: an approval step that follows your company’s rules, order data that has to be enriched before it reaches the ERP, a supplier that only offers an API, a configurator whose output has to become an order line. For these I build custom Shopify apps and small Node.js services, with the scope kept to what the process requires.

How I work on it

I write down the data flow first — what comes in, what is stored, what goes out, what happens when the other side is down — and agree it with you before writing code. Apps run in a separate environment from the theme, with access limited to the scopes they need. Where a process is only half-defined, I prefer a smaller first version that handles the main path and logs the rest, so the team can see real behavior early. I have built apps of this kind for a dealer portal on Shopify, for CRM/ERP transfer on a live store, for configurator data on a migrated catalog, and for a supplier integration with stock, order and tracking workflows. In the Nurus and Calma context I have also worked on manufacturing-process tooling — MES-related screens, user authorization and QR/barcode flows exchanging data with Axapta.

02Who this is for

  • Store teams that have tried the available apps and still have a gap in their process.
  • Companies whose Shopify store must exchange data with internal systems — ERP, CRM, order management, supplier platforms.
  • Merchants with configurable or personalized products where selected options, surcharges or configurator output must be stored on the order and visible to the people fulfilling it.
  • Operations teams that want a recurring manual task — a feed export, a stock check, a status update — to run on a schedule with logs and alerts.

03Problems I solve

  • Approval and role logic Shopify does not provide out of the box. Custom admin pages where managers approve applications and draft orders, assign responsibilities and see what is waiting.
  • Order enrichment. Configuration or personalization data captured on the storefront, attached to the order through the Admin API, and shown on the admin order page and in exports.
  • Data exchange with the back office. Orders and customers forwarded to CRM/ERP; shipping and status information brought back into the store.
  • Supplier integrations. Stock and price synchronization, order forwarding, cancellations and tracking with supplier systems — using webhooks where they exist and scheduled polling where they do not.
  • Feed generation. Product data transformed into catalog feeds for other channels, with descriptions taken from the right source.
  • Catalog logic beyond standard options. Additional configuration options on products, with the selected values carried into the cart and the order.

04Typical scope of delivery

  • Custom Shopify apps built with Node.js, React for admin interfaces, and MySQL with Sequelize where the app needs its own data.
  • Shopify Admin API (REST and GraphQL) and webhook integrations.
  • Server-side services on Linux/Ubuntu with Nginx and PM2, or on a hosting setup your team already runs.
  • Logging, alerting and a short operations note so someone other than me can see what the service did.
  • Storefront pieces in Liquid and JavaScript where the app has a customer-facing side.
